Waiting in the queue at the gate

why do people rush?

Posted by Jeena

I'm at the airport now, the gate has oppened, and like 80% of the people rushed to stand in the queue.

I never understood that behaviour. Sure if you have children or are elderly or disabled then I get it that you need more time, but thos epeople have a priority entrance anyway.

But if otherwise why do you race to be the first one on the plane where you'll spent the nex 14 hour on anyway?

The seats are pre assigned so you don't get a better seat. The loggage over head can in 99% be placed in the same place where you seat. Getting out doesn't depend on the order you got in either. In my mind nothing changes if you're the first one or the last one on the plane.

If you're the last one you at least optimize on spending the least amount of time on the plane, even if it's just a difference of 20 minutes or so. You don't need to sit in the tiny space in a tiny tube any unnecessary time.

I's probably because I've always been a big guy and never liked tose tight spaces, so perhaps other people don't mind, that still doesn't explain the rush to stand in the long queue for 10 minutes instead of just sit around until the queue is very short like 30 seconds of waiting or so.

I just had the time to write this whole blog post while waiting for the queue to get short enough, which it is now.
