Little Hearts, Big Changes
How Fast They Forget
Posted by
It's interesting, our 3 years old had the same teacher since he was 1 year and three months old, now she resigner and he is starting a new class with bigger children on Monday.
She had still had annual leave so she took it this week so he didn't see her.
We asked her to meet as during the weekend because we thought he would miss her a lot. But once we arrived he didn't recognize her!
Ok she had more formal clothes and makeup which she didn't use during work and it was a different setting at a kids cafe, but I recognized her imediatelly and he was afraid of her when she tried to hug him, while they hugged every morning at the Kindergarten.
So now I wonder, how fast get small children over losing someone so close?
I was also gone for three weeks because I had to go to Europe and help my parents set up everything fot the time when my dad would be back from the hospital where he had to go after Christmas.
Our son only wanted to talk to me twice on the phone during those three weeks while I calked quite frequently like every three days. He also wasn't asking where I am, or when I will be back, he asked it one when I practically was on the way back.
But with his mom it's a bit different, he needs her every day to fall asleep (I was only allowed to put him asleep until he was 9 months old). So when she is on a business trip for a coupple of dys he cries for her to come back and put him to sleep every night, while he doesn't mention her during the day even once.
Perhaps it's different with different children, what's your experience?
